Nickerson Beach is open to the public from May through Labor Day. Typical in-season park hours are 9:00am – 10:00pm, 7 days a week. Office hours are 10:00am – 6:00pm. Toll booth hours are 9:00am – 5:30pm from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

Nickerson Beach Park has been a part of the Nassau County, NY park system since 1967 and is now operated by the Dover Group. This beachfront park is located along the Atlantic Ocean on Long Island’s south shore and offers its beachgoers amenities such as campgrounds, ball fields, volleyball courts, a par 3 golf course, cabanas, swimming pools, the beach and so much more.

We have one main pool on each end of the park as well as one kiddie pool on each end.

Volleyball Courts

Visitors can enjoy a total of 6 beach volleyball courts.

The Fun Zone

The fun zone features playgrounds, a brand new basketball court on the west side, beach volleyball courts and so much more.

Skate Park

Enjoy the skate park at Nickerson Beach Park.

Picnic Areas

There are unreserved and reserved (fee) picnic areas that include barbecue equipment and a campground.

Par 3 Golf Course

Enjoy the picturesque, seaside par 3 golf course. This nine hole course ranges in length from 47 to 105 yards.

Dog Run

This dog run features designated areas for both small and larger-sized dogs. This area is located across from the fun zone. Dogs are not allowed on the beach.

Food & Beverage

Concessions are available during the summer months only. It is located on the south edge of the fun zone.

What are the Hours at Nickerson Beach Park?+

Hours as of September 15:

The office will remain open every day from 10am to 6pm.
The Cabana area is now closed for the 2025 season.
Tolls and pools are closed for the 2025 season.
The Pitch and Putt is closed for the 2025 season.
The convenience stores are closed for the 2025 season.

Nickerson Beach Facility is open to the public from May – Labor Day. Typical hours in season are as follows.

Park Hours of Operation: 7-days a week: 9:00am – 10:00pm.

Cabanas are 9:00am – 10:00pm.
Office Hours are 10:00am – 6:00pm.
Concessions are 11:00am – 6:00pm (weekdays) and 10:00am – 6:00pm (weekends).
Facility gates are locked at 10:00pm each night. All guests must exit the park prior to 10:00 pm each night.

Toll Booth Hours: 7-days a week: 9:00am – 5:30pm from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

Is there a fee for the Skate Park at Nickerson Beach Park?+

Skate Park

You must pay the prevailing daily parking fee to enter between Memorial Day through Labor Day.
Helmet and protective gear are required.
The Skate park closes at dusk. The skate park is open from Memorial Day to Columbus Day weekend.

How can I obtain a permit for a picnic at Nickerson Beach Park?+

Picnic permits will be issued to Nassau County residents only. Please visit our picnics page for more information about obtaining a picnic permit.

How can I obtain an Alcohol Permit for my Picnic?+

Please contact us or visit our Nickerson Beach Administration office for more information about acquiring a license for alcohol. Please visit our picnics page for more information about obtaining a picnic permit.

How can I acquire a night fishing permit?+

Night Fishing permits can be used for the hours of 6 pm to 8 am, and are $27 per season. Please visit the administration building at Nickerson or call us to acquire your night fishing permit.

How can I obtain a permit for a field at Nickerson Beach Park?+
